Self as a measure of improvement .

Self Development

We all develop our skills, our potentialities, our strengths, multiplying on our goodness traits and reducing our weaknesses.
Self improvement can emerge ,only through introspection, through reflections of the past, present and the future.
We go through a series of developmental activities through which we gain our perception and insightful understanding , eg, our home, our family, our parents , our neighbourhood, our school, our peers and so on.
Our concepts undergo a radical change, constantly sieving  and sifting and thus taking us to clinging on to only the chief essential characteristics that can be defined as “The Concept “, perhaps even with a one word phrase. Eg the word happiness can be described as a feeling of elation, of goodness....the word Joy is indicative of the process of happiness. It need not be elaborated further. The process of Self improvement is thus, removing the unwarranted, the not so needed aspects, pruning of self towards a changing you, of instilling the qualities of truth, beauty and happiness , a blissful state of focusing on one’s goals and making life more meaningful.
Hence Self improvement is a process that grants intrinsically the self respect, to oneself, self imagery that brings about positive changes towards the personality.
We as humans , have a wide range of emotions, and thus when we deliberate on our self improvement, we improve upon our fears, our anxieties, our concerns, we move from a stage of fear to fearlessness, from cowardice to truth, from ego to superego, from self damaging pains to self expression, self consciousness to consciousness, making ourselves better in every way. We all look out for change, and aim at bringing about change, let’s make the change in ourselves.
Much time is lost in attempts to bringing about change in others around us, instead when the process of change begins with us, that is the day ,success dawns on us .
As we change for the better , one would also notice a subtle change around us too, indirect forces of being consciously competent striking the right balance between man and machine.
When an individual is effervescent, is joyous , is intellectual, is spiritual , is compassionate, is communicative ,is responsible, is perceptible, is energetic ,passionate about one’s goals, is empathetic,  such an individual is capable of bringing about a positive change for the better, not only for oneself but to others around too.

Good company keeps us in positive framework of mind.

Satsanga or good companionship is very essential to keep us in a fluid state of mind, that helps the intellect govern us in the right direction ,rather than we governing the mind to function in a particular way.
As an eg, I hear from some one about an individual , I immediately tell my mind to stop talking to that individual .
On the other hand, I hear from some one about an individual, I think about that individual, I re-ascertain  the facts , after enough observation and interaction , with certainly I let my intellect govern me towards the best action.
Satsanga is  like that, after much study and reiteration ,I choose to be in good company, a company that influences me and the others in the group, that influences a positive transformation of one another . The good is emulated with reasoning, conversation, thinking and through self directed activities.
I alone hold a good value, is no good, ten others hold on to good values strengthens the core value system that we are possessing. Here the number of influential individuals counts.
Children must see one another in good actions, be helpful to one another, the principle of Satsanga doesn’t hold good only with adults, it is much needed for children too.
Along with academics , we also need to welltrain our children and youth towards being in good company.
A word of caution though, we should refrain from labelling and discrimination along the lines of stereotypical caste and class differences.
If humanity has to progress in a direction of an initiative towards the building of consciousness, then we need to encourage children form heterogeneous groups to interact with one another , under the adult supervision, as we generally get to see in the neighbourhood garden or park or within a school.
Petty religion blocks our mind . Religion is a way of leading our life in a constructive and dharmik/ principled way , respecting one another’s rights and duties.
At times, certain contextual words are misrepresented to be a slogan or a bandwagon of a particular religion , Sanskrit words are used world wide.
The richness of a vocabulary is utilised as also a cultural influence.
One should be open minded in absorbing good vocabulary.
It is here that our intellect begins to guide us in the best possible manner , we can discern the right from the wrong and thereby lead our lives well enough as per the standards we have set for ourselves.
If emulate we must, let’s emulate good role models.
In a highly mechanised world, values too are needed for our survival.

Religious tolerance

Few questions that sprang up in my mind , and subsequently we follow it up with our discussion on the important topic of religious tolerance.

Can any nation ,having gone ahead in time and historical movement , go back in time ,to rediscover an ancient glory .?

Can a nation’s diplomacy with international relations be affected in a non congenial manner ?

What makes up a National identity ?

What contributes to the National peace and progress, religion or spirituality?

In the recent past , we have been witnessing a gross religious intolerance from warring parties. No matter how much of the wise words ,we hear from saints and sages , we continue to malign one another without understanding the specific purpose of the religion we are born to.

As humans we are all interdependent on one another , we are mutually intelligent people , and with given consent ,follow a program of exchanges that stabilises the economy on either side.

The world economy needs us all to be compatible and establish mature relationships, only then will there be a a sea change in humanity .

Modernisation along with spiritual awakening to the renowned messages of many a saint and a sage , absorbing the very best tenets is what we need.

Failing which ,as we are already witnessing, wars would emanate ,foolishly enough to dismantle many a political administration.

let us therefore understand the need for integration, in the spirit of a universal democracy. Evolution of a better race is in our hands , I am sure we will all endeavour towards this, a spiritual consciousness aimed at better understanding the humanity with its diversity , of varied shades and colours.
